Bio


 Gintas K (Gintas Kraptavičius) a Lithuanian sound artist, composer living and working in Lithuania.  Gintas has been a part of Lithuanian experimental music scene since 1994. Gintas K was a core member of the first Lithuanian industrial electronic music band ‘Modus‘ . From 1997 to 2000 he worked as an editor on the radio station ‘Kapsai’ for an alternative radio show titled ‘The Ways and Mistaken Pathways’.

Later Gintas Kraptavicius was active as a performer and interdisciplinary artist, known for his actions, happenings, written instructions in a post-fluxus manner.

In 1999 Gintas turned his scenery name into Gintas K and started exploring experimental, electroacoustic, electronic, computer music, granular synthesis, live electronic music aesthetics. Collaborations with sound artists @c, Paulo Raposo, Kouhei Matsunaga, David Ellis and many others. He has released numerous records on labels such as Cronica, Baskaru, Con-v, Copy for Your Records, Bolt, Creative Sources, Sub Rosa and others.

Since 2011 member of Lithuanian Composers Union.

Winner of The University of South Florida USF New Music Consortium 2019 International Call for Scores in electronic composition category.

In 2025, he was awarded the Lithuanian Composers’ Union Prize in the Best Musicology Works Competition for his open and playful documentation of the experimental Lithuanian music era in his book “Games, or Fragments of Lithuanian Experimental Music”

Education: on 1988 graduated Vilnius Tallat Kelpsa conservatory; on 1993 graduated Lithuanian Academy of Music and obtained diploma of the 2nd stage studies – Master degree.
